Sydney

Lots of drinking. Drinking with Sweeds. Getting hammered and swearing with a french couple (they taught me some silky smooth dirty words). It's been a bit out there. Or, "down there" I suppose. Tonight we have a flight leaving for Byron Bay. Aside from the beach here in Bondi, we haven't really done much but trek our way down to the Opera house, have a meat pie, and drink until our livers scream.

We are hoping to book a fairly expensive, but sure to be fun 5 day sailing trip moving north from the Gold Coast. Sleeping on a giant sailboat, drinking, meeting people. If it's anything like the trek in Chaing Mai, Thailand, it ought to be fucking awesome.

Aside from that, we have nothing really set in stone. A plane ticket from Cairnes to Sydney on the day before we leave for Auckland is it. So, somehow we have to make it to Cairnes by the 12th of March.

Anyway, no wuckin fories, bonza, g'day, steve irwin.

Also, I haven't seen Babel. It was a movie on the plane, as well. I started to watch it, but ultimately left it alone. The themes that began to manifest themselves in the 20 minutes I watched made it really interesting. I'm sure it's good. Once again, I don't know when these movies come out, but you should check out The Prestige and The Fountain. I tried "The Illusionist" as well... its tone was so slow and syrupy that it was like being on a Demerol drip.

Amy: Lesson from Steve, don't poke the wildlife with sticks!!! (That included Dick Cheney; he's there.) PLEASE, pay special attention to NZ. I'm dying to hear about it (and bring me homefinders!).

By the by, mate, I loved "The Illusionist." A bit syrupy, yes, but I loved the slow tone. Very unAmerican! Did you know that parts of it were actually filmed by gaslight for the tone? Also, star Eddie N. was very proud of the fact that all the "illusions" were done real time, without computer funny business. It was a small movie, in its way, but I really liked it. Pure entertainment. I don't know when "The Fountain" comes out but, after your raves, I can't wait to see it. Have you heard of "Pan's Labrynth"? Post Spanish Civil War allegory, I hear, and it's supposed to be brilliant.

Enjoy the Walkabout, gain knowledge. (I read a book about Aboriginal walkabout when I was a little kid sitting in a tree in Powder River and have been facinated with it since.)

Wow, that was a quick reply. I'm still here at this internet cafe. I actually saw Pan's before I left. It's by the guy who did Hellboy. It was pretty good... not anywhere near worth the praise that some critics were giving it, though. It's another tremendously catholic themed movie. The allegory was not lost on me... it just wasn't that amazing, I thought.

A lot of people HATED The Fountain, so you may not like it at all... I thought it was fantastic, and its allegory a bit more complex and rewarding.

Illusionist had no CG?... That was the reason I started to hate it... so many filters on the film... and CG everywhere (as opposed to the Prestige). Growing the orange tree?... how was that NOT CG? the butterflies? I thought the entire thing was a CG nightmare. Oh well... I was watching it through a tiny airplane screen, though.

The Departed is a supremely good movie (I think)... I recommend watching it as soon as possible. It may be a bit hard to stomache, but it's also incredibly rewarding when you start to engage the motifs. Talk to you laters. There is this english couple next to me fighting, HARD!

Put your dukes up and tell them you'd like to kick Oliver Cromwell's ass for crossing the river Shannon, but they'll do! I know about the orange tree, etc., but that's what he said...love you dude.

Whiskey, Tango, Alpha? You go half way around the freak'n world to talk movies with your homey?

For my money, poking Dick Cheney with a stick would be the shit. Do you tell people you are American? No wait, it's written all over you. Your pits stink of it. Your clothes, hair ... but it's the swagger that really closes the deal. Anyway, American is PC in AU-- Probably the only place on the planet (including America) where it's PC right now. In NZ say, "Okay, I'm American, but not Dick Cheney American." I know, it's so Steven Colbert, but like Fuckembabe says ...

The girls have you signed up for the Betty Ford center upon your return.

AND speaking of rehab Brittany is out. No wait, she's back in. The judge! The freak'n judge! He gives the body (the getting pretty ripe body) to the kid! Yes, custody of the body to the multi-fathered silver spooned meal ticket of a spanking baby boy. Go fig.

Dick Cheney is the cause of my flight being delayed at the moment.

Nobody gives me shit about being an American. They hate the country, but the people are fine. Except the Dutch. The Dutch fucking hate all Americans. I partied with a few frenchies last night. There was a few "fucking American", "Fucking French" thrown around in jest... but by the end of the night we were all chanting and patting eachother on the back. The American perception of the world hating us isn't really that true.

I don't mind talking movies. It's not like I spent my day on the internet. 30 minutes and then I ran down to the beach. Don't judge me.

Anyway, here are some pictures.

Koh Phi Phi. The day we left.

Internet time is running low. Time to go to the Gold Coast.

I'm also really glad that I don't have to be bombarded by the entertainment world shit. I barely even knew that Anna Nicole Smith died.

I just now got why you are calling me "Amy". Whispering Glades...

I started reading "The crying of lot 49" the other day while listening to "Stars of the Lid" and "The Dead Texan" on the beach. It's quite an experience. That 150 page book is reshaping my psyche. Well... not really, but I really do like it.

Koh Phi Phi. The day we left. That's how you take a picture!

YOU JUST GOT WHY YOU'RE AMY? Dude, you named yourself Amy! That's right up there with David's wondering why the picture of the kitty was all over his on-sale tuna!

Partying with English chicks looks like fun....delayed by Cheney, again...remember Casper? Lord I can't stand that evil man.

So, can you yet imagine living elsewhere? Can't wait to see you and keep sending pics. Don't get poked by anything.

Dude... I've been "Thanatogenos" for a long time now. Though it was based off the Amy... that part has long since been lost in my memory. Gold Coast, surfers paradise is nice. 59 seconds left on this internet. Talk to you soon.
